Swans net 5 without reply

A very accomplished display on Saturday saw Christleton FC despatch the visitors, Winsford Saxons, with relative ease.

1st Half

Its becoming customary for Christleton to create, and miss, huge chances early on in games and this was no exception. Twice in the first 10 minutes we managed to miss targets when it looked easier to score. This enabled Winsford to settle into the game and up until the half hour looked comfortable in possession. However, our dogged midfield upped the urgency and began to close space and hurry the opposition into mistakes. On thirty five minutes Will Harrison broke the defensive line to supply the previously errant Zacc Caveney to open the scoring. As seems to be the way at Little Heath, when we get one another soon follows, on 40 minutes Will Harrison finished off a fine move and cross from provider extraordinaire Matt Harland Jones.

2nd Half

The second period started as the first ended, Christleton quicker to the ball and closing down the opposition so on 50 minutes Tommy Vicary’s low shot into the corner made it three – a smile for the cameras to cap it off. Several substitutions made and Mike Murray on debut scored the fourth on 65mins with his first Christleton touch after a fine cross, once again from Matt Harland Jones.

Chances came and went as the second half progressed, but it took till the 85th minute to score our fifth and final goal of the game – Caolan McCool dribbling through the inside right channel and ‘chipping’ in.

Managers comment “A very pleasing performance. We demonstrated how fit we are today, continually closing space and putting pressure on the opposition when not in possession. This enabled us to win the ball back quickly and maintain momentum going forwards.
